Room-Size Cooling Calculator for Irish Homes
Work out how much cooling power your room needs from its floor area, insulation and constraints: a BTU range, not a suspiciously precise single number.
How this estimate works
We start from your room's floor area and ceiling height, then adjust for insulation quality, window size and orientation, how many people usually use the room, and any heat-generating equipment. Older solid-walled Irish houses and newer, better-insulated builds hold heat differently, so the result is shown as a range rather than a single figure.
The recommended cooling type also factors in whether you have outdoor unit access, since Irish rental leases and apartment rules often restrict this more than the room's size does — a smaller split system will usually outperform a larger portable unit, but only if installation is actually allowed.
