Meaco Cirro vs MeacoCool Pro: What Actually Changed?

Meaco's new Cirro range replaces the MeacoCool Pro as its quiet portable. Compared on price, power, weight and noise, with the claims we can't check marked as Meaco's.

By KeepCoolExpert Team · Updated 14 October 2026

  • Meaco Cirro (12000 BTU, heater version)
  • MeacoCool MC Series Pro 10000 CH
  • MeacoCool MC Series Pro 9000 CH

Our verdict

The Cirro is a real step up on capacity and, on Meaco's figures, on noise, but it costs about £110 more than the nearest MeacoCool Pro and is 4kg heavier. Meaco's headline 'half the noise' is mostly about Super Quiet mode; compare the ceilings and the gap is smaller. The older range has years of buyer feedback; the Cirro has one independent test.

Meaco sells two lines of portable air conditioner side by side on its site: the MeacoCool Pro, its existing portable range, and the Cirro, launched in summer 2026 with a quieter design as its main pitch. Here is what differs, using Meaco’s own pages for both. We haven’t tested either range; for the Cirro there is one independent test, from Ideal Home, covering the 12000.

CH means the version with heating. Both ranges also come in cooling-only versions, and the larger Cirro+ sizes (14000 and 16000) add an inverter; see our Cirro size comparison. The 9000 CH noise figure on Meaco’s page today is 52-54dB; some earlier listings gave 51-55dB.

Noise: the headline and the small print

Meaco’s launch line for the Cirro is that it is about half the noise of its earlier portables. Look at the table and that is true for the best case only: 45dB in Super Quiet mode on the Cirro 12000 against 52-54dB for the 9000 CH is a drop of 7-9dB, and a drop of around 10dB is roughly half as loud to the ear. At the loud end the gap narrows to 51dB against 54-55dB. Neither range tells you how its number was measured. Ideal Home’s reviewer measured the Cirro at 59dB in Super Quiet mode and 62dB in normal cooling, still well above Meaco’s figure, though she found it clearly quieter than earlier portables. We would not take the 45dB at face value; our noise guide goes into why.

Power and size: the Cirro gives more, and takes more

The Cirro 12000 offers 2000 BTU more cooling than the 10000 CH, for 230W more power (1350W against 1120W) and a unit about 4kg heavier (28.75kg against 24.5kg). That is the practical trade-off: more capacity and, on Meaco’s figures, a quieter design, in a bigger and heavier machine. If the unit has to go upstairs, the weight matters; Ideal Home’s reviewer needed help just to unbox the Cirro.

Price: about £110 more

Comparing like for like (both with heating), the Cirro 12000 at £539.99 is £110 more than the MeacoCool Pro 10000 CH at £429.99, and £140 more than the 9000 CH. You get more capacity and a newer design, and the Cirro is also the one with a return date: the older models show no date at all.

What each range has behind it

The MeacoCool Pro has some buyer reviews, but the picture is unstable: the 9000 CH we track read 2.5 stars from 19 Amazon reviews in August and 4.6 stars from 11 when we rechecked on 14 October, with noise a repeated complaint in the earlier reviews. The Cirro has no customer rating anywhere yet and one independent test, which was positive about cooling speed and noise relative to older units, and flagged a heavy body, a fiddly window kit and an app that wouldn’t connect. That is a promising start, but it’s a much smaller sample than even the Pro’s shaky one.

Which should you buy?

If you can find either in stock, and a quieter unit is the main reason for buying, the Cirro is the likelier fit, on the understanding that its noise figures are claims rather than verified results. If budget, weight or immediate availability matter more, a MeacoCool Pro is still a reasonable unit, as long as you’ve read the noise caveats in our MeacoCool Pro 9000 CH review. And if neither is available, our portable air conditioner buying guide covers what to look for in other brands.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Meaco Cirro really twice as quiet as the MeacoCool Pro?
On Meaco's numbers it is in one mode and not in another. Meaco quotes 45dB for the Cirro 12000 in Super Quiet mode against 52-54dB for the MeacoCool Pro 9000 CH, which is a drop of about 7-9dB. As a rule of thumb, a 10dB drop sounds roughly half as loud, so 'twice as quiet' is a fair description of the best case. At the top of the range Meaco gives 51dB for the Cirro and 54-55dB for the Pro, a much smaller difference. Ideal Home's reviewer, who tested the Cirro, called it noticeably quieter than earlier portables she'd tried, while measuring 59-62dB.
Should I buy a MeacoCool Pro instead, if I can find one?
Only if price or size is the priority. The 10000 CH is £429.99 against £539.99 for the Cirro 12000 heater version, and it is about 4kg lighter, which matters on stairs. But on Meaco's own figures it is louder, and its buyer record is hard to read: the 9000 CH we track has swung between 2.5 stars from 19 Amazon reviews (August) and 4.6 stars from 11 (14 October), with noise the recurring complaint in the earlier reviews. Both ranges are currently sold out at Meaco direct, so availability may decide it.
Is the MeacoCool Pro being discontinued?
We haven't seen Meaco say so. Both MeacoCool Pro models we checked are still listed on Meaco's site, showing as sold out with no return date, while the Cirro models show return dates. Meaco describes the Cirro as its new quiet range, and the Cirro's packaging still carries the MeacoCool Pro name, but that is a pattern, not a statement about the older range's future.
