Meaco Cirro+ 14000 BTU Inverter Smart Portable Air Conditioner

From £599.99

Currently showing as sold out

  • + Inverter model — Meaco says it adjusts its output to hold your chosen temperature rather than cycling fully on and off
  • + Rated for 25-35m² and, at 24.9kg for the cooling-only version, lighter than the non-inverter 12000
  • + Meaco quotes 1550W and about 41p an hour to run at 26.32p/kWh
  • + Same two window kits as the rest of the range, R290 refrigerant and a 2-year warranty
  • − Cooling-only version sold out at Meaco direct with a stated return date of April 2027, and John Lewis lists the heater version as no longer available online (checked 2026-10-14)
  • − £80 more than the non-inverter 12000 for 2000 BTU extra — Meaco's 'up to 35% lower energy' claim is its own and is based on overnight use; we haven't found independent measurements of it
  • − Quoted 42-51dB with no stated test method; the only independent test we found measured the 12000 model at 59-62dB, and we found none for this size

Our verdict

A sensible middle size for a large bedroom or living room, and the cheapest Cirro with an inverter. But the case for paying £80 over the 12000 rests on Meaco's own energy claim, and we found no independent test of this size. It is also sold out, with Meaco quoting April 2027 for the cooling-only version.

The Cirro+ 14000 is the middle of Meaco’s new range and the cheapest model with an inverter. We haven’t tested it, and we couldn’t find an independent hands-on test of this size either; the only one we found, from Ideal Home, covers the 12000. So this review rests on Meaco’s specifications, live pricing and stock, and a clear account of which claims are Meaco’s rather than someone else’s.

Who it’s actually good for

A large bedroom, living room or open-plan space of around 25-35m² that you can’t fit a split system in, where the unit will run for hours at a time rather than in short bursts. That’s the case an inverter is designed for. At 24.9kg for the cooling-only version it is also about 3.5kg lighter than the 12000, which matters if it has to be carried upstairs.

Who should look elsewhere

If your room sits near the bottom of the 12000’s 20-30m² range, the extra £80 is hard to justify on current evidence. If it’s much bigger than 35m², look at the 16000. And if the cooling-only version is the one you want, be aware Meaco lists it as back in stock in April 2027 rather than this winter.

What we couldn’t verify

Three things come from Meaco and nothing else. First, the 42dB Super Quiet figure: Meaco gives a 42-51dB range without saying how it was measured, and the one independent test of the 12000 measured well above Meaco’s number for that size. Second, the “up to 35% lower energy consumption” claim, which Meaco says is based on overnight usage. Third, the room-size rating, which Meaco marks as an estimate. If you read a glowing summary of this model elsewhere, check whether the writer measured anything or repeated the product page.

The real numbers

  • Cooling: 14000 BTU for 25-35m². Meaco doesn’t say whether the BTU figure is an ASHRAE or SACC rating.
  • Power: 1550W in cooling mode, about 41p an hour on Meaco’s figures (26.32p/kWh).
  • Inverter: yes (the 12000 has none).
  • Noise: 42-51dB according to Meaco.
  • Heating version: 12000 BTU of heating at 1300W.
  • Weight and size: 24.9kg cooling-only, 25.75kg with heating; 722 × 430 × 358mm, on castors.
  • Refrigerant: R290, 200g. Energy rating A. Maximum airflow 480m³/hour.
  • Warranty: 2 years, which Meaco says can be extended to 5.
  • Price and stock: £599.99 cooling-only, £629.99 with heating. Unavailable at Meaco direct, Air Con Centre and Meaco Dehumidifiers UK on 14 October 2026, and John Lewis lists the heating version as no longer available online.

Frequently asked questions

What does the inverter in the Cirro+ 14000 actually do?
A non-inverter portable air conditioner runs its compressor flat out until the room reaches the target temperature, switches it off, then switches it back on when the room warms up. An inverter varies the compressor's speed instead, so it can hold a steady temperature without so many full-power cycles. Meaco says this lowers running costs and makes operation quieter, and it claims up to 35% lower energy use based on overnight usage. That is Meaco's figure, and we haven't found an independent measurement of it for this model.
Is the Cirro+ 14000 cheaper to run than the 12000?
Not necessarily. Its full-power draw is higher (1550W against 1350W, which Meaco puts at about 41p and 36p an hour) because it is a bigger machine. The saving the inverter is meant to deliver comes from how it behaves once the room is at temperature, particularly overnight, so it depends on how you use it. If you only run it in short bursts to knock the heat off a room, the inverter has less to save.
Which room size is the Cirro+ 14000 for?
Meaco rates it for 25-35m², labelled as an estimate. That sits between the 12000 (20-30m²) and the 16000 (35-40m²). A south or west-facing room with large windows will need more capacity than the same floor area on a shaded side of the house, so use a calculator that accounts for sun and insulation before choosing by floor area alone.
