Buying & Installing Air Conditioning

This is the category for the practical decision of what to actually buy and how to get it installed, rather than whether cooling is worth having at all — that’s largely settled for most of Australia. Two genuinely different routes live here: choosing a split system, the realistic default for most homes, including sizing it correctly and navigating installation as a renter; and evaporative cooling, which is either an excellent, cheap-to-run choice or a genuine waste of money depending entirely on how dry your local climate actually is.

That climate split is the detail most sites skip — evaporative cooling isn’t a universally good or bad product, it’s a product that performs completely differently in Perth than it does in Brisbane, and guessing wrong costs real money.
