What we do
Most cooling advice online is a generic top-ten list with the nouns swapped between sites. We start from the opposite direction: a bedroom, a home office, a flat with no outdoor unit access, and a static caravan all have genuinely different constraints, so they get different guides and different recommendations — not one template.
How we research and compare
We don't run our own test lab. Our comparisons and recommendations are built from published manufacturer specifications, energy-efficiency ratings, verified retailer pricing and stock data, and independently published test results and standards (such as noise-level and BTU/coverage ratings) — cross-checked across multiple sources rather than taken from a single listing. Where the evidence is thin or conflicting, we say so rather than guessing at false precision.
Every guide and comparison carries a publish date and, where it's been revisited, an updated date, so you can see how current the advice is. Specs and prices are checked periodically, but they do change — always verify the current price and stock with the retailer before buying.
How we make money
Some links on this site are affiliate links: if you buy through them, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This never determines what we recommend — our comparisons are built before we know which retailer or product will end up linked, and if the honest answer for a scenario is a £20 fan instead of a £400 air conditioner, that's what we'll say.
Corrections
If you spot a factual error, an out-of-date price, or a spec that no longer matches the retailer listing, tell us and we'll fix it. Corrections are made directly to the affected page rather than added as a follow-up note, so the guide stays accurate rather than accurate-plus-caveats.
